We waited an age for the new Volkswagen Golf R to arrive in South Africa, but finally it is here. There is still no pricing for it, but I got to drive it anyway. It is thrilling and it is practical, two of my favourite things combined. Would I buy it over a GTI? Not necessarily, but that doesn’t mean the new Golf R isn’t excellent. I’m just not sure how much longer these two cars will excite us. Times are changing after all. But was it worth the wait?
